AIP-210 (CertNexus CAIP) Exam Cost

The CertNexus AIP-210 exam voucher costs $367.50 in the CertNexus store as of September 2026, and every CertNexus voucher includes one free retake. If you pass within those two attempts, that single voucher is the whole cost of earning the Certified Artificial Intelligence Practitioner (CAIP) credential. Study bundles, an exam simulator and a renewal fee three years later are optional extras.

One naming note first, because it trips up a lot of searches: AIP-210 is a CertNexus exam, not a CompTIA exam. CertNexus is a separate, vendor-neutral certification body, and you buy the voucher from CertNexus or through Pearson VUE.

AIP-210 price at a glance

The free retake, and the 18-month clock

This is the most useful fact about AIP-210 pricing. According to the CertNexus candidate handbook:

• If you don’t pass on your first attempt, you can take a second attempt immediately and at no extra cost, with no waiting period.
• You schedule the retake with the same voucher code, and it has to be the same exam and version.
• All vouchers, including the retake, expire 18 months after purchase.
• A third attempt needs a new voucher. There’s no mandatory wait, but CertNexus recommends a 30-day preparation period first.

So one $367.50 voucher covers two attempts. Needing a third attempt takes the exam total to $735.

What the fee buys

• 90 items: 80 scored plus 10 unscored trial items, per the exam blueprint.
• 120 minutes, which includes 5 minutes for the candidate agreement and 5 minutes for the Pearson VUE tutorial.
• A passing score of 60% or 59%, depending on which exam form you get. CertNexus says the forms are statistically equated.
• Multiple choice and multiple response items by default. The blueprint says other item types may appear when the content calls for it, such as working with code snippets (including SQL) or reading data visualizations.
• Delivery at a Pearson VUE test center or online through Pearson OnVUE.

There’s no application fee and no eligibility check. CertNexus recommends 1 to 3 years of professional exposure, and the exam covers four domains: Understanding the Artificial Intelligence Problem (26%), Engineering Features for Machine Learning (20%), Training and Tuning ML Systems and Models (24%), and Operationalizing ML Models (30%). Optional prep costs

CertNexus sells its own prep materials, but none are required. The CAIP page says CertNexus doesn’t require a training course before the exam.

• Study guide: $109.15 on its own, or bundled with the voucher for $424.31. Bundled, the guide adds $56.81 to the voucher price.
• CAIP Test Prep: an exam simulator with a 12-month, unlimited-use subscription for $124.95.
• Labs: $82.50.
• Course bundles: the student digital course bundle with lab includes courseware, labs and the voucher for $693.00. It’s listed for instructor-led delivery.

If you take a CAIP course through a training provider, the blueprint says a voucher comes bundled with your training program, so check before you buy a second one. Renewal: what it costs to keep CAIP

CAIP is valid for three years. Before it expires, you have two ways to keep it:

1. Retake the current exam. That means buying a new voucher at whatever the price is then.
2. Continuing education. Earn 90 continuing education credits within the three-year cycle and pay a single $150 program fee for that cycle. The CertNexus store listed the CAIP program at $157.50 when we checked. Fees are non-refundable, and all activities must be submitted before your certification expires.

If the certification lapses, CertNexus says you have to retake the most recent version of the exam.

How AIP-210 compares on price

CAIP is the priciest of these, but it’s also a different kind of exam: a vendor-neutral practitioner credential that assumes hands-on machine learning experience, not an entry-level cloud exam. Whether that’s worth $367.50 for your career is the question we tackle in is AIP-210 worth it?

Ways to spend less

• Start free. Baseline yourself with free practice questions before you buy any bundle.
• Ask your employer. A vendor-neutral ML credential is an easy training request to justify, and your company may already work with a CertNexus training provider.
• Book within 18 months. If the voucher expires, your free retake goes with it.
• Don’t spend the retake on purpose. It’s a safety net, not a free practice exam. Prepare as if you only had one shot.
