HOW TO // AI (“we,” “us,” “our”), a Texas corporation, publishes a free newsletter and educational content at howtoai.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the site or subscribe to our communications, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Information you give us. Your email address when you subscribe to the newsletter, and any information you include in messages sent to hi@howtoai.com or through the contact form.
- Payment information. When paid products become available (planned for June 1, 2026), payments will be processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card number — Stripe handles that directly. We receive a record of the transaction (name, email, last four digits, amount).
- Usage information. Standard analytics data such as pages visited, referrer, approximate location, device type, and browser. Collected through Google Analytics 4 (via Google Site Kit).
- Cookies. We use a small number of first-party cookies for site functionality and caching, and third-party cookies set by Google Analytics. You can block cookies in your browser; the site will still work.
How we use your information
- To deliver the newsletter you subscribed to.
- To respond to questions you send us.
- To process purchases and deliver products you buy.
- To understand how the site is used so we can make it better.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your information to train AI models.
Service providers we use
- beehiiv — newsletter delivery and subscriber management.
- Google Analytics 4 (via Google Site Kit) — website analytics.
- Stripe — payment processing for paid products (when launched).
- Hostinger — website hosting.
Each of these providers has its own privacy policy and processes data on our behalf under their published terms.
Your choices and rights
- Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link at the bottom of every email.
- Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing hi@howtoai.com.
- Opt out of analytics by enabling Do Not Track in your browser, using a tracker-blocker, or installing the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on.
We honor requests under applicable privacy laws (including GDPR for EU residents and CCPA for California residents) regardless of where you live.
Data retention
We keep subscriber email addresses for as long as you remain subscribed. Purchase records are kept as required by US tax and accounting laws (typically seven years). Analytics data is retained according to Google’s default settings (currently 14 months).
Children
This site is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect the most recent version. Material changes will be announced in the newsletter.
