ChatGPT Pro Gets Double Work Usage and Free API Credits

ChatGPT Pro gets double usage card: twice the Work and Codex allowance plus promotional API credits

OpenAI increased the ChatGPT Work and Codex usage included in its Pro plans on October 29, 2026. Pro 100 and Pro 500 now include twice their previous Work and Codex allowance. OpenAI also canceled the Pro 200 allowance cut it announced on September 29, and Pro 200 is open to new subscribers again. Prices are unchanged at $100, $200 and $500 a month.

A day earlier, on October 28, OpenAI added promotional API credits for eligible Pro and Business subscribers. The pricing page lists $100 a month with Pro 100, $200 with Pro 200 and $500 with Pro 500, and up to $500 a month per Business workspace. The credits apply to a linked API organization and are separate from ChatGPT usage.

Who this affects

  • Pro 100 and Pro 500 subscribers. Your Work and Codex allowance doubled. Existing subscribers get it without waiting for renewal.
  • Pro 200 subscribers. If you were on the lower allowance, it doubled to match the higher one. If you already had the higher allowance, you keep it. The price stays $200 a month.
  • People who wanted Pro 200 but couldn’t buy it. New Pro 200 subscriptions are available again from the pricing page.
  • Business Premium seats. OpenAI says they are included in the increase but gives no number for them.
  • Plus subscribers. OpenAI says Plus usage is unchanged.

What to do now

  • Nothing is needed to get the larger allowance. OpenAI warns that a larger allowance does not guarantee twice as many completed tasks, because usage depends on the model, task and speed mode.
  • To use the API credits, activate them from your ChatGPT subscription. Activation and eligibility requirements apply, the first grant is prorated, and unused credits expire at the end of the billing cycle.
  • Ultrafast speed is still Pro 500 only. Buying credits on Pro 100 or Pro 200 does not unlock it.
  • Business admins: OpenAI’s Business pricing page says that starting in December, plan usage will have a shared limit across all of ChatGPT and Codex.
