Yes. Grok has a Free plan at $0 with limited chat requests, limited agent requests and limited image generation (Imagine). Video generation and Grok Bot start on paid plans.

Grok vs ChatGPT: the real differences
- Real-time X. Grok can search public X posts and run real-time web searches, according to its maker’s FAQ.
- Video. Grok includes video generation from Premium up. ChatGPT’s plans don’t include video: OpenAI discontinued the Sora app on April 26, 2026.
- Free plans. ChatGPT Free includes unlimited everyday text chats (with abuse safeguards). Grok Free lists limited chat requests.
- Price. At $8, it’s Grok Plus against ChatGPT Go. The main paid plans differ: ChatGPT Plus is $20 a month and Grok Premium is $30.
- Research. ChatGPT includes deep research on every plan (limited on Free and Go). Deep research isn’t listed on Grok’s plan page.
- Privacy controls. Both let you opt out of model training, and both have a chat mode that isn’t kept (Private Chat in Grok, Temporary Chat in ChatGPT), deleted within 30 days. Grok inside the X app is covered by X’s privacy policy, not Grok’s.
